The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill opens in JBR

The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill, Dubai’s long-awaited seafront dining concept, opens its doors at the DoubleTree by Hilton, JBR. Tucked away in the hotel’s loading dock, The MAINE is a classic New England-inspired seaside brasserie devoid of pretension or gimmickry.

As an expression of their North American roots, Montreal gastropreneur Joey Ghazal, and head chef Liam Breen, are serving up satisfying brasserie dishes heaped with culinary nostalgia for those longing for an honest dining experience.

A cross between an American brasserie and a European bistro, The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill showcases a unique raw bar of fresh oysters, fashionable crudo (fresh raw fish), ceviche and a range of seafood towers.

“The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill is more than just seafood” says Founder and Managing Partner Joey Ghazal. “Our family-style menu has everything from grilled steak, chops and a variety of vegetarian dishes as well as fish that is grilled on live charcoal. Our long-bar also offers a perfect informal area to enjoy an after- work drink and light meal, or head out to the terrace for sundowners with a seaside view.”

“Growing up in Dubai since the 1970’s, I have been fortunate enough to travel and experience some incredible culinary concepts from around the world. I always felt that this style of restaurant was sorely missing in Dubai and would perfectly suit the city’s more relaxed diners in search of something simple, accessible, and delicious,” added Ghazal.

Entering The MAINE Oyster Bar and Grill, diners will be in good (and fresh) company, as the entrance is hidden in the parking garage right by the loading dock, where daily batches of seafood, meat and vegetables are delivered directly to the kitchen and into the hands of head chef Liam Breen.

“Taking high-quality ingredients and creating something unique, yet familiar is what The MAINE Oyster Bar and Grill is all about,” said Breen.

“Diners shouldn’t be confused by a menu or feel overwhelmed by fancy names: people want good, brasserie favourites at a reasonable price point. Whether it’s a business lunch, quick bite after work, or a multi-course celebration, The MAINE’s menu delivers choice and consistent quality,” added Breen.

The inclusive menu offers diners a choice of small, large and sharing plates including: a variety of freshly shucked oysters; Prime Steak Tartare, The Maine Clam Chowder; Applewood-smoked Mussels; fresh Fisherman’s Catch of the Day; classic Steak Frites or the Rib Eye For Two; and a choice of desserts such as Maple Pudding, Rocky Road Brownie or Key Lime Pie.

The MAINE Oyster Bar and Grill’s interior, designed by Joey Ghazal, is warm with brick, leather and brass overtones, but with touches of nautical glamour with oyster- shell chandeliers, hand-painted wall-mounted mirror menus, as well as classic blue and ivory crockery.

Located in the loading dock of the DoubleTree by Hilton, in the most accessible part of JBR, The Maine Oyster Bar and Grill is now open daily for lunch and dinner, as well as for Friday and Saturday brunch:
