Mochi makes for a sweet treat

- Chez Sushi introduces ‘chilled’ health conscious dessert options, as the weather turns warmer

- With the summer months fast approaching, it is the right time to cool off with traditional Japanese mochi ice cream. Chez Sushi offers authentic mochi, perfect for ending a meal loaded with fresh sushi, sashimi, edamame and rock shrimp.

Chez Sushi serves mochi in various flavours including green tea, chocolate, mango, strawberry and vanilla. In addition, the fast casual restaurant has also introduced the one-of-a-kind wasabi mochi ice cream on the menu.

Mochi ice cream is a small, round dessert ball prepared using soft, pounded sweet rice cakes (mochi) on the outside and an ice cream filling on the inside. The dessert is healthy, with one average size mochi ice cream ball containing around 56 calories only.

“It’s that time of the year when everyone wants to get fit to hit the beach. For those with a sweet tooth, it is difficult to stay off desserts, however mochi is a great alternative as it is light, healthy and refreshing,” commented Hiba Kosta. Co-Founder of Chez Sushi.

The first company to produce mochi for the domestic market was Lotte Co.
In fact, mochi is such an important dessert in Japan that it is made in a special ceremony called ‘Mochitsuki’. The ice cream is also consumed during the Japanese New Year.

Chez Sushi is located in Al Wasl Road, Business Bay and Dubai Marina.
