‘Ministry of Science Live’ Finishes with a Flourish at Al Qasba

The ‘Ministry of Science Live’has concluded its run of famous scientific shows to a host of Sharjah school children and members of the public with a series of extravagant new experiments and demonstrations to demystify the finer points of science.

Under the theme ‘The World is one Classroom’, the show demonstrated that anyone can become a life-changing scientist, regardless of race, gender, or location and showed how many of science’s most famous figures came from a diverse range of backgrounds. The 60-minute interactive production included a variety of carefully engineered explosive experiments  and chemical reactions, with constant audience participation.

Some of the more unusual operations included fire tornados, elephants’ toothpaste, the future of travel and exploding ping pong balls. And using subjects as diverse as human rockets, liquid nitrogen and renewable energy, ‘The world is One Classroom’ also showed how science plays a part in our daily lives, making it accessible, relevant and fun for the children.

The show, which was held at Al Qasba from February 21-23, was hailed as a great success. As morning shows were especially dedicated to schools, and evening shows on the following days at 7:00 pm were for public.

Sultan Shattaf, Manager of Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier leisure, tourism and family destination, said: “The Ministry of Science Live is an excellent example of how international acts now choose to come to Sharjah in general and Al Qasba in particular for their appearances. For the organisers it is a natural choice to attract a wide and varied audience and for our citizens, residents and visitors, it is an opportunity to watch globally acclaimed productions. With each new performance that comes to Al Qasba, the greater our presence on the cultural, intellectual and educational stage. Through educational events and shows we host or organize, we want to be key players in the new generation's learning experience.”

Al Qasba is home to a range of world-class facilities and tourist attractions, including restaurants and cafes, the Kids Fun Zone, the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, the Eye of the Emirates Wheel, the Maraya Art Centre and two libraries, among other amenities designed to meet the needs of visitors of all ages and from all communities.
