Let’s Support Breast Cancer Awareness, One Bite at a Time

Last year they raised a whopping AED 51,000 auctioning the quirky ‘pink shawarma’, and this year Pink Caravan Ride’s record-breaking event, ‘Pink Bite’ is gearing up to be bigger and more entertaining than ever.

Seven celebrated Dubai chefs will team up with seven prominent Pink Caravan ambassadors, who will create regionally inspired, pink-themed dishes live before a huge gathering of breast cancer awareness supporters and advocates. The dishes will be auctioned, whose proceeds will support the Pink Caravan’s mission of making people aware about the importance of early detection, and will be used to offer free screenings to people across the UAE.

Reem BinKaram, Chairperson of Pink Caravan Organising Committee said: “We are overwhelmed by the unfailing support of our ambassadors year after year, who take time off their busy schedules and come forward to support our cause. This year, Pink Bite brings Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman, Department of Statistics and Community Development, Sharjah; Emirati music composer and artist, Fayez Al Saeed; Khawla Al Serkal, Director General, Sharjah Ladies Club; social media influencers, Ali al Saloum and Mohannad Al Hasouni; life coach Zina Habi; and Olympia Tabsh, Partner at Anfasic Dokhoon.”

She greatly emphasised on the role Pink Caravan ambassadors play in driving community engagement, by pulling crowds to volunteer, donate and participate.

“The response by the public has been overwhelming” says Russell Impiazzi – Galeries Lafayette Le Gourmet’s Culinary Director, who helms the kitchen for each event.

“We eagerly look bringing Pink Bite back to Galeries Lafayette again this year. Expect a bigger spectacle this year, as we will join forces with some of the best name in Dubai’s culinary industry – Chef Mohamed Orfali from Fatafeat, Chef Rief Othman of PLAY, and Chef Colin Clauge from RUYA, who will be accompanied by top Dubai chefs Tom Reger, Robbie Stoke from IMG worlds of Adventure and Tony Kitous flying in  from London,” he added.

“Its great to see once again Chefs coming together supporting this fantastic cause. Hopefully, we will see the participation of many more people who will help us surpass the funds we raised last year,” Impiazzi concluded.

Arguably Pink Caravan’s most popular fund raiser, Pink Bite is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 14 March, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Galeries Lafayette, The Dubai Mall.

The seventh Pink Caravan Ride is being held under the slogan ‘7 Years… For 7 Emirates’, and will travel across the UAE from 7 to 17 March, with a view to enhance community awareness about breast cancer and the importance of its early detection. It will offer free clinical examinations and screenings all across the UAE, during the 10-day ride.
