Opening to a packed house at Fashion Catwalk at The Dubai Mall – Kids Fashion Fest kicked off on a spectacular note yesterday (13 August) with the first catwalk show putting a spotlight on the most trendsetting looks from Bloomingdale’s – Dubai – one of the region’s leading department stores.

Kids Fashion Fest was launched by DSS Starz - Jaden Smith and Willow Smith – children of Hollywood icon Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett Smith – who enthralled their audiences from the moment they stepped on the stage until the concert came to an end.

Francesco, a 12-year-old boy from Mozambique, said: “I came to Dubai especially to watch the concert of Jaden and Willow Smith. I was quite excited to see them on stage together. Kids Fashion Fest is a wonderful treat for all the children during Dubai Summer Surprises.”

His 16-year-old brother, Philipe, added: “Jaden and Willow Smith’s concert was a beautiful surprise from DSS. I was amazed to see so many people gather here at The Dubai Mall to see them perform live. I truly loved their music and the concert. We love all their songs.”

A cast of 20 little modelling sensations then took over the Fashion Catwalk to showcase some of the most stylish and adorable back-to-season looks from the popular department store’s Autumn/Winter 2015 kidswear collections. Wearing the latest creations by coveted labels Monnalisa, Moncler, Burberry, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Kenzo, Armani Junior, Ralph Lauren, Diesel, and Joan Calabrese for mon cheri – little modelling talents were effortlessly turning heads throughout the show.

From elegant dresses revealing a never-seen-before floral prints and eye-catching patterns for little princesses to a stylish and sporty ensemble for boys – the collection drew attention to an exciting mix of kidswear creations available at Bloomingdale’s – Dubai for the upcoming fashion season.

Mother of Rashid Al Awadi, a 9-year-old Emirati boy who participated in the fashion show, said: “I got to know about this event through Dubai Summer Surprises’ Facebook page and I registered my son right away. I was very happy that he was selected to be among the 20 models. I am beaming with pride to watch him walk on the ramp with so much grace. Kids Fashion Fest is indeed a fantastic event for kids and the organisers have done a wonderful job in organising this attraction is such a professional manner. I am also glad that all the kids got the opportunity to receive professional training from expert choreographers.”

Father of Rashid Saeed Hasan Saleh, a 10-year-old Emirati boy, walking the ramp, said: “I learnt about Kids Fashion at The Dubai Mall and registered my son to participate in the show and I was thrilled to know that he was shortlisted as one of the models. Kids Fashion Fest is a great attraction for both residents and tourists and definitely puts a spotlight on Dubai as the future capital for kids’ fashion.”
