Empower to participate in IDEA Annual Conference 2016 in Saint Paul from 19-23 June

A delegation from Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has headed to Saint Paul, the United States to participate in the  International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference and Trade Show that is held between 19-23 June. 

 

The delegation is led by HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower, and it includes other delegates from various departments such as sales and marketing, operations& maintenance, finance and business support. 

 

HE Bin Shafar, who is a member of the IDEA board of directors, will be attending the IDEA Board of Directors Meeting. Bin Shafar is the first Emirati Arab member since 2013. His membership has been renewed in 2016 for another three-year term until 2019. 

 

The conference hosted by IDEA is an annual conference and trade fair that brings together global energy experts, business leaders and decision-makers to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of district cooling and combined cooling solutions and power distribution systems for cities and communities. HE Bin Shafar will participate in the opening panel discussion entitled ‘embracing change’ along other global energy leaders.  

 

Empower’s delegation will also participate at sessions about smart metering logic in sustaining energy and how to control and eliminate failures and increase efficiency of GRP pipe networks. 

 

IDEA 2016 brings together industry professionals from around the world to discuss community-based district cooling systems. Empower will highlight its efforts to transfer district cooling technologies to Asian and African countries including China and India as part of its cooperation with UNEP. It will also highlight its efforts in adopting environmental initiatives on conserving energy consumption as well as exchanging ideas and best practices to enhance energy efficiency.  

 

“District cooling services have become environmentally and economically viable solutions for developing cities due to its efficiency in operation and maintenance and energy conservation. We, at Empower, were part of IDEA conference since the company’s inception and our mandate reflects the theme of this year’s agenda of transferring knowledge and increasing collaboration to protect the environment and increase sustainability which will in turn will help in achieving better results for the advancement of energy efficiency in the world,” said Bin Shafar. 

 

“Empower clients include residential and commercial communities based in prime locations across Dubai. Our key achievement of increasing the use of district cooling in Dubai is to attribute to the continuous support we are seeing from the wise leadership of the UAE,” added Bin Shafar. 

 

Speaking on the board of directors meeting, Bin Shafar said: “The meeting was a good chance for us to put our capabilities and futuristic vision on the table of discussion with international peers in the field of district cooling, as our company tops the list of district cooling providers in the world. At Empower, we follow a clear strategy to maintain the environmental resources for future generations through the widespread use of district cooling systems. In the meeting, we will highlight our contribution to the transfer of such technology to developing countries that need them, as well as we reviewed major benefits achieved by this innovative technology.”

 

Empower currently operates more than 1.1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
