Empower completes preparations to cater to the demand of peak summer period from June-September 2016

Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, announced today that it has completed pre-summer preparation works at its district cooling systems across Dubai to cater to the rapidly increasing demand during the peak summer period.

“We, at Empower, work continuously to enhance our district cooling systems. Our services are safe, secure and reliable,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower. “We leverage on the off-peak winter monthsto ensure a consistent level of service in the peak time to our around 55,000 customersacross the Emirate of Dubai.”

System adjustments for the summer period include updates at Empower’s state-of-the-art Command Control Centre that effect precise temperature control at units, smart calculators for accurate metering, bulk meter maintenance, and temperature sensor verification. The process also ensures smooth functioning of networks and machineries, and readiness of emergency-reacting measures and tools.

Relevantly, Empower supports environmental sustainability initiatives in Dubai. The company accounts for about 70% of District Cooling services in the Emirate of Dubai. “Our efforts aim to raising the standards of District Cooling globally, by adopting the environment sustainability mechanisms in all operations. We always strive to adopt the highest green standards knowing the fact that district cooling is an ideal alternative to conventional cooling systems as far as reducing the environmental footprint is concerned,” said Bin Shafar.

Empower’s world-class Command Control Centre (CCC) monitors the activities of its plants, through an advanced, high-performance smart network. The centre has capacity to serve additional plants in the future. Empower said the smart connectivity of its plants through this centre was being powered by the communications infrastructure of Dubai. Empower has plans in place to connect all its plants and buildings through the Command Control Centre later in the year. 

Empower currently operates more than 1 million  100 thousands RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
