Dubai Customs seeks DEWA’s best practices in training national students

A delegation from Dubai Customs’ Training Center has lately paid a visit to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to learn about their best practices in training and empowering top achievers among national high school graduates and university students.

The delegation was headed by Dr. Shaikha Al Ghafri, Acting Director of DC’s Customs Training Center, and comprised Sami Al Kiswani, senior training specialist, and Sheikha Masoud, training specialist.

They were introduced to DEWA’s key training programs and strategies geared to attract and qualify pre-college as well as university students who would potentially pursue professional careers within the organization.

Dr. Sheikha said the visit was part of DC's keenness on building synergies with local government partners. “Our aim is to go home with some useful best practices to help us do the same in recruiting talented high school graduates to Dubai Customs after taking them through a pre-employment training.”

The Customs Training Center team toured DEWA Academy, a vocational secondary school that aims to train Emirati youth and build their skillsets through an onsite program that includes different aspects of electricity generation, transfer, and distribution, as well as water desalination and supply.

During the visit, Dr. Sheikha hailed DEWA Academy's on-the-job training programs targeting national students and its significant role in fostering creativity and unleashing the full potential of Emirati young minds.
