In a remarkable global attestation, Dubai Customs maintains its lead through the ‘Year of Innovation’ by claiming the Leadership in Government Transformation Award for the ‘Smart Capability Investments’ category from the FEAC Annual Enterprise Architecture Awards.
Sponsored by the FEAC Institute, USA, the award was launched in 2002 and conceived as the prime awarding entity recognizing the impacts of Enterprise Architecture (EA) best practices on achieving efficiencies, greater effectiveness, transparency, increased collaboration, and innovative solutions to government mission outcomes. By winning this award, Dubai Customs surpassed rivalling major advanced countries that made it to the final screening, including USA, UK, Romania, India and many others.
Dubai Customs Director Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, received the DC working team that won the award in the presence of Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director, Customs Development Division, who handed him the award. Mr. Musabih hailed their efforts for marking this milestone as an added value to the consecutive successes and innovations attained by Dubai Customs both regionally and globally.
“This global accreditation comes to showcase our commitment in marking our imprints on the path of excellence, innovation and creativity, following the trails first set and drawn by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in encouraging all government entities to seek enhancing customer experience with public services. His highness once said, ‘The race for excellence has no finish line, and this is what we believe in and seek to interpret on our day to day practices,’” Ahmed Mahboob said.
Juma Al Ghaith explained that “A world driven by constant change makes it imperative for us to adopt and utilize the ‘Learning Organization’ doctrines with all its dynamics. For which, we greatly rely on investing in our human capital as a key drive for harnessing a smart customs environment capable of leveraging Dubai Customs into a world class efficient entity.”
Al Ghaith also highlighted that by expanding the EA value across Dubai Customs and through using smart channels; it increased its capacity to produce the enterprise projects prioritizations, enabling it to achieve its strategic objectives, provide insights for corporate strategy development and generate inputs for further business process improvements. He also added, “Dubai Customs became the first electronic government department in October 2013, and pursued its journey in marking flagships of innovative progression by delivering services through smart phones and watches. We take creativity and innovation as the key pillars to achieve Dubai Customs’ prosperity, and ultimately serve the greater end of leveraging Dubai’s competitiveness and the UAE as a whole.”
Director of Business Process Department, Hussam Mohammad Juma said: “This award stands as a global recognition of Dubai Customs business architecture excellence in adopting world class best practices in this field while introducing cutting edge practices in managing corporate capacities, which ultimately leads to increased operational efficiency.”
The FEAC Institute hosts the Annual Excellence in Enterprise Architecture Awards since 2002 in partnership with ‘Zachman International for Enterprise Architecture’, founded by John Zachman who is attributed as the father of modern enterprise architecture. He sat the grounds for the Framework for Enterprise Architecture, which is nowadays the de-facto standard in defining EA’s ontology around the globe.
