In line with its efforts to enhance the notary service in Dubai, and improve its role across the business community, Dubai Courts will be receiving applications from eligible candidates who intend to pursue a career as a private notary in the Emirate.
HE Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of Dubai Courts said that Dubai Courts is keen to implement initiatives and strategies aimed at strengthening the role of judiciary services to meet the needs of all segments of society and respond to stakeholders requirements. HE Al Mansouri elaborated that opening the door for private notaries aims to enhance, facilitate and accelerate the service, as well as save time and effort in benefiting from judicial and legal services across the Emirate.
Law No. 4 of 2013, issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, governs the work of private notary public, and lays down the necessary legislation for the profession. HE Al Mansouri said this law has profound impact in promoting Dubai’s competitive position in the Ease of Doing Business according to the World Bank standards. It also provides variety of services for customers including documents’ and contracts’ approvals with the help of private notaries licensed by Dubai Courts and available across Dubai.
Director-General of Dubai Courts noted the notary services are essential to the judicial work, as Dubai Courts is accomplishing large number of judicial transactions every day. “This makes it imperative to respond promptly to maintain Dubai Courts competitive position, and ensure efficient service,” added HE Al Mansouri.
The second batch of Private Notary professionals should be UAE citizens, fully competent, and good conduct, and was not sentenced to a conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude (CIMT) or dishonesty, regardless if he was pardoned. Furthermore, notary publics must be holders of a degree in law or sharia, or the legal equivalent, be physically fit to carry out the duties of his profession, was not dismissed from service or by virtue of a disciplinary decision. He must also successfully pass the tests, training programmes and scheduled interviews. Private notary publics must also practise the profession with no less than 5 years. Dubai Courts receives applications in Private Notary Public Department at headquarters, between 3rd – 28th April 2016.
