If there is anywhere, ladies in the UAE got to be on Saturday, 11th March, it is Dubai Ladies Club for a ‘Pink Yoga’ session. The event being organised by the 7th edition of the Pink Caravan Ride – Sharjah’s pan-UAE breast cancer awareness campaign, has been doing a splendid job of dispelling myths that surround the disease, providing free screenings, and raising funds to cover patient treatment costs since 2011.
This edition of the event is being organised in collaboration with Dubai Ladies Club, a sanctuary exclusively for ladies centrally located in the heart of Jumeirah. An outdoor yoga session will be conducted by yoga experts from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Commenting on the occasion, Lamia Abdul Aziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club, said, “We are pleased to collaborate with Pink Caravan on such an important initiative. As breast cancer is the most common form of cancers found in women, it becomes imperative to raise awareness and provide the right information to women about its causes and prevention. And the fact that 98% of breast cancer patients can survive if the cancer is detected early, adds to the key role significance of such events as they can prove ‘lifesaving’ in many cases.”
She added, “Since its inception, Dubai Ladies Club has been organising various events and partnering with organisations that help women in leading an active and healthy life. Our long-standing partnership with Pink Caravan speaks volumes about our efforts in this direction. We strongly believe that health-conscious women can lead the way to a heathier and hence a happier nation.”
Yoga and meditation are two of the highest used alternative, non-invasive therapies for breast cancer patients in the world for their effectiveness in treating anxiety and other mood disorders common to the disease. Needless to say, it is one of the best lifestyle practices one can adopt to experience the most elevated state of well-being.
Along with deep breathing and relaxation exercises, the session will focus on the importance of correct lifestyle and dietary choices as a way to potentially avoid the risk factors involved contracting breast cancer.
The seventh Pink Caravan Ride is being held under the slogan ‘7 Years… For 7 Emirates’, and will travel across the UAE from 7 to 17 March.
