13th World Urban Forum Opens in Baku with High-Level Ministerial Meeting

The 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), began today in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the theme “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities,” opening with a high-level ministerial meeting attended by ministers and officials responsible for urban development and housing from various countries around the world.
The ministerial meeting discussed key challenges related to urban expansion, ways to develop sustainable housing policies, enhance city resilience, support innovation and digital transformation in urban planning, and exchange international expertise in developing urban communities and improving quality of life.
Saudi Arabia is participating in the forum with an official delegation headed by Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail, highlighting its most prominent achievements and experiences in sustainable urban development in line with Saudi Vision 2030 targets, as well as the progress achieved in the housing sector, quality of life, and urban environment development.
Through its national pavilion, the Kingdom is also showcasing a range of national projects and initiatives in housing, real estate investment, digital transformation, and smart municipal services, with the participation of more than 20 entities from the government, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Saudi Arabia’s participation in the forum underscores its continued active role in supporting international efforts to build more sustainable and innovative cities and to enhance cooperation and the exchange of expertise in urban development and housing.
