A new-look Al Mahara is set to open at the Burj Al Arab in September 2016, under the culinary patronage of multi award-wining chef Nathan Outlaw.
The famous, two-starred Michelin chef will be bringing his style of simple, yet exquisitely technical seafood cooking to the iconic property, and will be combining it with complex flavour blends using local, seasonal and responsibly sourced ingredients.
Nathan’s menu at Al Mahara takes inspiration from his critically acclaimed restaurant and public house in Cornwall, as well as his London restaurant, Outlaw’s at The Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge, all of which hold Michelin stars.
Nathan’s career began with the late Peter Kromberg at the InterContinental Hotel on Hyde Park Corner in London. He has worked alongside iconic chefs such as Eric Chavot, Gary Rhodes and John Campbell, however, his love for seafood cuisine was ignited when he visited Cornwall in the south-west of England as a young chef to work under Rick Stein.
When asked why he chose Dubai for his first restaurant outside the UK Nathan replied “Well getting to work with the BAA speaks for itself. It’s the best hotel in the world, and a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is my first venture out of the UK, and what an iconic property to partner with.
Dubai itself has very much claimed its spot on the world food map- and can definitely play with the big boys. As a chef it is one of the places you want to be. I have been so impressed with the quality and service here.”
Al Mahara is the distinct and memorable dining location, which gives guests the feeling they are in an underwater haven. As part of the collaboration with Nathan, the space will undergo an aesthetic transformation, which includes XXX (add more about the restaurant changes). Still keeping the signature aquarium as the centrepiece, the new look will heighten the senses even further, making it truly unforgettable dinning experience.
Announcing the collaboration, General Manager of the Burj Al Arab, Anthony McHale, comments; “To have Nathan on board for his first collaboration of this kind outside of the UK is extremely exciting - for us as a hotel but also for Dubai itself. His experience and creative flair for seafood is second to none and we are delighted to welcome him to the new-look Al Mahara restaurant.
“Nathan will be here in Dubai six times a year to consult with his head chef and team, guaranteeing consistent high standards of mouth-watering seafood are served at every sitting. Nathan has an outstanding reputation in the UK and we are confident that his experience and professionalism is the perfect combination for ongoing culinary success at the Burj Al Arab.” McHale continued.
Nathan will will be available for interviews at the Burj Al Arab on the 13th-14th March. Please contact victoria.m@qcomms.ae or call 050 149 4185 to schedule an interview time with the chef over this period.
