UAE is now one of the strategic growth markets for Taiwan’s ICT giants

Taiwan’s ICT giants utilised the GITEX 2015 platform for their global product rollout. Senior representatives from ASUS, QNAP, EnGenius, HiTi and PLANET unveiled their latest products during the press conference at GITEX 2015 along with several other industry leaders such as Draytek, HTC and Zyxel.

As per Taiwan’s Computer Association, the exports of electronics and ICT (Information and Communications Technology) products grew 14.56 percent annually to AED415 billion in 2014, which signifies the global adoption of Taiwanese brands. Taiwanese companies account for about three-quarters of the world’s production of PCs and half of the world’s liquid-crystal displays (LCDs). In addition, Taiwan produces about a fifth of the world’s mobile phones and a quarter of its semiconductors.

Taiwan aims to intensify its partnership with Middle East’s ICT sector through this platform. Taiwan aims at leveraging on the theme of this year’s GITEX event - ‘The Internet Future of Everything’, to endorse these promising innovators who have created a niche for themselves in the global market with their state of the art technological product offerings.

“UAE remains a hotspot for Taiwanese ICT brands and this show is a highly influential platform for us. We have been acknowledged as strong original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs), however, Taiwan is now building on that foundation to boost innovation, design and branding. In this endeavor, Taiwan aims to tap a larger share of the value chain and strengthen its competitiveness worldwide,” stated Mr. Shyh Perng Chang, Director of Taiwan Trade Center Dubai.

HiTi would be displaying printers including wireless, compact and high volume printers. PLANET is presenting Smart Cloud Home Automation equipment with VoIP solution and Long Reach PoE / PoC Solution. QNAP will be focusing on their flagship Network Attached Storage and Network Video Recorder products. EnGenius will be showcasing state of the art Access Point devices, Switches and Wireless Gateways at the event.

These Taiwanese brands at GITEX have all received the Taiwan Excellence Award. This award is the highest accolade awarded to Taiwanese products that encapsulate innovation and value. This heralds the country’s ascent to world-class quality in product innovation, design and manufacturing, representing the highest standards which Taiwanese products must meet to maintain its competitive edge in the global markets.

“ASUS Middle East will be showcasing a selection of products from its innovative and extensive portfolio including the Zenpad UX 305, Zenpad S 8.0, and Gaming Desktop PC G20. With the tablet and gaming sectors experiencing strong year-on-year growth, the Middle East is one of the key markets for ASUS. GITEX 2015 will serve as a great opportunity for consumers to experience the products first hand, as well as purchase them. There will also be a sneak peek of the upcoming Zenwatch 2,” said Ethan Ling, Country Product Manager for ASUS.

As per a report by McKinsey Global Institute, the potential of the technology and services pertaining to IoT is projected to touch more than USD 11 trillion per year by 2025.

“EnGenius is the networking specialist with global presence and commitments to local market. Its MEA regional office EnGenius International has been established since 1994 with its own sales, marketing and warehousing facilities in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, UAE to serve the partners and customers in the region. As per reports by TrendForce, Google has decided to create its second IoT (The Internet of Things) R&D center in Taiwan and this is the first outside of the United States. Thus, Taiwanese ICT firms will potentially be Google's first choice for overseas partners for IoT development, given their research abilities in components, system assembling, and fast-response industry clusters.

By introducing PLANET and solutions to more visitors, we wish to establish partnership with more companies in the Middle East and other neighboring countries, added Mr. Kent Kang, Director of Product Engineering, PLANET Technology Corporation.

“For Taiwan, GITEX is a major window to tap global opportunities and flourish in the era of IoT. We aim to promote our globally renowned ICT brands that offer the best in technology, design and innovation in one complete package. This platform is also about connecting and networking with industry stakeholders and to taking the business globally to the next level,” added Mr. Chang.
