People all over the UAE celebrated the announcement of land being allocated to building the first temple in the capital Abu Dhabi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the UAE for a few days before the agreement was made, and the occasion and visit was Tweeted by Modi (@Narendamodi), His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai (@HHShkMohd), and Dr. Anwar Gargash (@AnwarGargash), Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Federal National Council Affairs, including many other prominent personalities in the region.
Narendra Modi (@Narendamodi) went to Twitter to thank the government, commenting “I am very thankful to the UAE Govt for their decision to allot land in order to build a Temple in Abu Dhabi. This is a great step.” He is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the UAE in almost 34 years, and Tweeting at this occasion, about the historic visit, was HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai:

Dr. Gargash shared his view of the Indian Prime Minister over Twitter, stating “The leaderships of the two countries have the same political values that seek to cement stability and development.” The visit was highly anticipated by a majority of the population, as an estimated 50,000 Indians attended the public meeting for Modi at Dubai Cricket Stadium Association located at Dubai Sports City on 17th August 2015. The sentiment of cooperation and joy was one that could be felt across the social media site, and was captured by Narendra Modi using Twitter’s favourite hashtag #Selfie.
