Budding interior designers can gain practical skills and technical know-how in Dubai this summer on a range of short courses from the renowned Chelsea College of Arts. The college, famed for its art and design teaching, will be bringing its London-based tutors back to Dubai this May to teach on its specialist courses in interior design. Students can choose from a range of courses, including an intensive five day course on the principles of interior design (parts one and two), an evening course on starting an interior design business, and a three day course on bespoke furniture design. Other courses cover freehand drawing for designers, the use of 3D digital design software SketchUp, and lighting design.

Chelsea College of Arts is also introducing three new courses to its summer schedule. In Design Trends for Interiors, students can learn about the latest developments in interior design and technology from Milan’s international furniture fair - Salone del Mobile. The course will be taught by rising Italian designer and Chelsea College of Arts tutor Matteo Bianchi, who leads his own successful global design consultancy. Practicing interior designers, those who are new to the business, or who are thinking of setting up their own interior design company, will also be able to gain a place on one of Matteo’s exclusive Starting Your Own Interior Design Business Consultancies. The consultancies, which last for up to 90 minutes, will be one-to-one and will give anyone who attends the chance to test out their vision for a design practice with Matteo. Finally, for anyone hoping to give their home a unique look, the short course on soft furnishings will provide an insider’s knowledge on how to create signature cushions and fabrics that can be switched with the seasons.

The art college will be in Dubai from 15 - 26 May 2015, at the iconic Vida Hotel in Downtown Dubai. Chelsea College of Arts is one of six art Colleges that make up the prestigious University of the Arts London, the largest provider of arts education in Europe.
