Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car hold blood donation campaign

Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car, part of A.A. Al Moosa Enterprises, held its first blood donation campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting humanitarian and health values and raising the importance of taking part in health programs that contribute to saving the life of other people.

In cooperation with the Blood Donation Centre of Latifa Hospital of Dubai Health Authority, the campaign received tremendous response from the management and staff of both rental companies who gather at their main office in Karama to donate blood and support the initiative.

Prior to the event, the group distributed campaign materials to its employees highlighting that blood donation save lives. One flier stated that: “You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives. Just donate blood. Do you know that just a pint of blood can save up to 3 lives? Donating blood is safe. It’s painless, simple and noble.”

“The first and foremost advantage of donating blood is the exalted feeling of saving someone's life. If we donate the little excess blood in our body, it could save someone's life without creating any problem for us. This initiative is a noble opportunity to demonstrate our company’s support of the community especially to patients who are in need of blood units,” said Karunesh Arya, General Manager of Thrifty Car Rental, Dubai & Northern Emirates.

Marwan Al Mulla, General Manager, Dollar Rent A Car, UAE and Oman added: “We believe that individuals who donate blood are displaying the most selfless act. Donating blood voluntarily is similar to giving the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood. Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from generous donors so we applaud our employees for taking part in the blood donation drive. We all know that blood has a short shelf life so we encourage everyone to donate blood regularly.”

In addition to saving lives, blood donation stimulates the heart muscle and circulation which helps reduce the risk of heart diseases and stroke among the donors, in addition to reducing blood pressure and cholesterol. After donating blood, the count of blood cells decreases in our body which stimulates the bone marrow to produce new red blood cells in order to replenish the loss.

Employees who took part in the campaign expressed their willingness to donate blood on a regular basis. Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car will hold the campaign annually and will target large number of participation from their employees.
