‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ is set to enthral little ones when it is performed tomorrow ( Thursday 12th May 2016) at Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier leisure, tourist and family destination. The production is a theatrical version of the popular children’s short story of the same title, which was written by German-born British author Judith Kerr.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea will be performed at Masrah Al Qasba-Theatre three times tomorrow, with different show times for different audience ages. Performed in English and suitable for all nationalities, the first two shows at 9:00am and at 11:00am are tailored to children from 2 to 6 years old, with the last show at 5:00pm open to all ages. The production is being directed by Officer of the Order of the British Empire holder David Wood, who composed its music and adapted it to the stage.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea starts with Sophie and her mother at home, sitting down for tea. The doorbell rings, with mum and daughter wondering who it could be. The story then develops into a wonderful adventure that is sure to captivate young audiences. The play has been designed an interactive show both for children who already love the bestselling book and for those yet to read it. Parents will also enjoy the production and may well recall fond memories of the book from when they themselves were children, with the title first being published in 1968.
Sultan Shattaf, Al Qasba manager said; “This is a great opportunity for mums, dads and children to enjoy a premium stage production of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, one of the most famous children’s stories and one that is still popular 40 years after it was first published.
