Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, The Galleria announces the launch of a pop-up concept showcasing homegrown talent and the region’s finest fashion, art, culinary and entertainment innovators. The Station will launch on March 2nd and run through March 19th, 2016.
Al Maryah Island’s waterfront promenade will showcase designer booths, gourmet food trucks, and art exhibits. Beauty stations will offer the latest tips from experts, and visitors can browse from selections of jewellery, perfume and accessory stands. Inspirational talks and workshops will be held during the week, while live entertainment takes place on the weekends with performers, actors, comedians and singers showcasing their talents.
Founded by Abu Dhabi-based Fashion Designer Searina Abdel Kader, The Station was created to offer a completely unique fashion and lifestyle experience in the capital, through a well-balanced mix of designers, brands, and engaging spaces. Kader shares: “We are very pleased to be partnering with The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, which is a leading destination to shop, see and be seen. My dream was to create an event that didn’t simply have commercial objectives in mind, rather supporting up and coming talent and giving them a platform to sell and showcase their brands. The name reflects the concept as the word “station” refers to a place where a train would usually stop along a railway line. It reflects a temporary transition in one’s life or can be interpreted as the experiential end destination.”
Charles Martinez, General Manager of The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi comments: “We’re delighted to be supporting local and regional grass roots talent from not only fashion, but also dining, art and entertainment. The Station will serve as the capital’s lifestyle destination for 18 days, which is befitting for The Galleria, Abu Dhabi’s year-round luxury shopping and dining destination.”
Some of The Station’s key vendors include: FMM by Fatma Al Mulla, who is renowned for combining art and fashion; Kandor T, a unisex label mixing influence from both the traditional and modern kandora; Sahar Karmostaji, a make-up artist who also designs and creates bespoke make-up boxes; and Al Zamen Al Jameel, a specialist in the design and export of customised home accessories and gifts. Azza Al Mughairi, the presenter from White Cube Radio, the Middle East’s Indie music station, will also be broadcasting her show #KeepitrealAzza live from The Station.
The Station at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi will run from March 2nd – March 19th 2016 and will be open on weekdays (Sunday to Saturday) from 4pm to 10pm and on weekends (Thursdays, Fridays) from 4pm to 12am.
