The passionate spirit of Flamenco will take over Sharjah’s picturesque Masrah Al Qasba Theatre on 11 January. The fourth edition of the Sharjah World Music Festival 2017 (SWMF 2017) will feature renowned Spanish musician David Durant, and singer Marina Heredia who comes from a lineage of flamenco experts in Granada – the universal cradle for this musical genre.
The two ambassadors of Flamenco will take the audience on a journey back through history to the Andalusian nights, expressing the soulfulness and raw passion of Flamenco – a fusion of Gypsy and traditional Arabic.
Audiences will be spellbound by David Durant’s sublime fusion of piano, jazz and flamenco, where we will witness his brilliance being created on the piano, when usually flamenco is played on the guitar. Durant has won several awards for his creative musical pieces, compositions and accomplishments.
