“Shurooq” to promote knowledge-based religious culture in community
Activities of ‘Eiman Oasis’ Ramadan initiative continue at Sharjah and Khorfakkan mosques
Activities of the Ramadan educational and awareness lectures, ‘Eiman Oasis’, an initiative by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), in collaboration with Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department, continue in the emirate of Sharjah, with renowned scholars to be hosted at Al Salaf Al Saleh Mosque in Sharjah and Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque in Khorfakkan. The activities will be concluded on 30th June (14th of Ramadan 1436).
At Al Salaf Al Saleh Mosque in Sharjah, Sheikh Dr Mohammed Hisham Tahiri will deliver a lecture titled “Companions of Prophets in Quran”. This will be followed by a lecture titled “Good Deeds and Impacts on Muslims”, by Sheikh Khalid Mohammed Al Qahtani, and a lecture titled “How Our Lord Loves us”, by Sheikh Dr Mohammed Hisham Tahiri, on 5th, 6th and 7th of Ramadan, respectively (22nd, 23rd and 24th of June). Sheikh Salahuddin Al Tahiri lead worshippers in Tarawih prayers at the same mosque from yesterday and today 5th of Ramadan, followed by Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Karim, who will lead Tarawih prayers from 6th to 8th of Ramadan.
The lectures scheduled at Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque include a lecture titled “It is Paradise”, by Sheikh Jassim Hussein Al Obaidly; a lecture titled "straight path", by Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Hisham Tahiri; and a lecture titled “Polytheism, Types and Prevention”, by Sheikh Khalid Al Qahtani on 5th, 6th and 7th of Ramadan, respectively (22nd, 23rd and 24th of June).
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer at Shurooq, said: “As in the previous year, people were eagerly awaiting the Ramadan lectures delivered by high-profile scholars and preachers. The lectures of the first three days of Ramadan received high levels of attendance and interaction. No doubt this great response will underpin the role played by Shurooq in promoting a knowledge-based religious culture in the local community”.
First lectures held on the 2nd day of Ramadan were attended by members of the community from different emirates. Sheikh Haitham Mohammed Jameel Sarhan delivered a lecture titled “Jurisprudence of Fasting” at Al Salaf Al Saleh Mosque in Sharjah. He presented rules, duties, nullifications and rewards of fasting, as well as what to do and what not to do during fasting, in addition to many fasting related topics such as Taraweeh and retreat in a mosque (i'tikaf), among others. Sheikh Daham Shabib Karim Al Fadhli delivered a lecture titled “Zakat and Ramadan” at Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque in Khorfakkan, during which he presented the rules, conditions and importance of Zakat and the role of Ramadan in promoting Zakat, among other related topics.
On the 3rd day of Ramadan, Sheikh Daham Shabib Al Fadhli delivered a lecture titled “Our Fasting and the Fasting of Previous Nations”, at Al Salaf Al Saleh Mosque in Sharjah. He presented the honor of Allah the Almighty to the Nation of Islam by the application of Sharia and fasting during the month of Ramadan as prescribed, unlike the preceding nations which lost and changed fasting rules. Sheikh Haitham Mohammed Jameel Sarhan spoke about “Hadith of Gabriel” at Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque in Khorfakkan. He highlighted the Pillars of Islam, the Articles of Belief, and the meaning of philanthropy and its benefits.
Sheikh Salah Al Tahri has led worshippers in Tarawih prayers at Al Salaf Al Saleh Mosque. He will lead Tarawih prayers until 5th of Ramadan, and will be followed by Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Karim on 6th, 7th and 8th of Ramadan. Sheikh Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Obaidly will lead Tarawih prayers at the same mosque from 9th to 13th of Ramadan.
