(Shurooq) launches Orphan Eid Clothing campaign at its various leisure destinations in Sharjah
Campaign falls in line with Zayed Humanitarian Work Day
As part of its participation in Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in collaboration with the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (Tamkeen), has launched the Eid Clothing Campaign at its four leisure destinations in Sharjah. The campaign will continue until the 19th of Ramadan.
Themed “Together we put a Smile on their Faces”, the campaign and the foundation’s members aim to bring joy to the hearts of orphans and share the happiness of Eid Al Fitr with them by providing Eid clothes to them. The initiative is in line with the principle of social solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
Starting from the first day of Ramadan, Shurooq will make 200 AED donation coupons available at restaurants and customer service desks in Al Qasba, Al Montazah, Al Majaz Waterfront and the Heart of Sharjah. Shurooq’s employees and visitors of these destinations may buy coupons directly from the four destinations. Proceeds will go to the Eid Clothing campaign managed by Tamkeen.
Commenting on the campaign, HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, said, “In addition to its role as an investment and development authority, Shurooq is a main partner in social and humanitarian initiatives that aim to help less fortunate members of society. We are launching this campaign in many of our leisure destinations during Ramadan to enable our employees and all members of Sharjah society , including residents and visitors, to help orphans and aid needy families within the spirit of solidarity, which is highlighted during Ramadan.”
HE Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director of Tamkeen, highly appreciates Shurooq’s initiative in launching the Eid Clothing campaign in correlation with Zayed Humanitarian Work Day. She stressed that this initiative will help support orphans, help to take care of them and improve their chances of finding better living conditions. She added that the Eid Clothing coupons will enable orphans who are members of the foundation to buy the clothes they select for Eid Al Fitr, which will keep their right to choose and increase their happiness.”
She also emphasised the important role played by institutions in supporting and aiding orphans. Shurooq began this humanitarian campaign as part of its belief in the corporate social responsibility principle and its corporate excellence, which achieves effective social partnerships.
This significant role enriches initiatives between institutions and community organisations and helps to offer more social and corporate support to serve the interest of society. It reflects the country’s vision in developing the spirit of involvement in social responsibility initiatives to aid in the country’s development and progress.
As part of the campaign and in relation to Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, Shurooq will organise an Iftar gathering for orphans on the 19th day of Ramadan and will provide them with free coupons, which enable them to enjoy a variety of services during Eid at Al Qasba, Al Montazah and Al Majaz Waterfront.
Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity. Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in Sharjah, evaluate investment-related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.
In recognition of its overall accomplishments, Shurooq was named The Banking Awards 2013 – and 2014 FDI Agency of the Year in the MENA region at the European’s Global Banking and Finance Awards. Most recently, the authority was named Top Investment Promotion Agency at the 2015 Best to Invest Award by Site Selection Magazine.
