Sharjah Ladies Club Bids Farewell to its ‘Back to School Carnival’

Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) has bid farewell to its ‘Back to School Carnival,’ an activity aimed at preparing children to go start a new reinvigorated school year. Concluding on September 1, the carnival hosted a series of educational and entertainment activities designed to give youngsters the opportunity to have fun in a creative and innovative learning environment.

Taking place at Kunooz Ballroom, SLC, the Back to School Carnival enjoyed a high turnout of children and mothers who engaged with its interactive workshops and presentations that had been specially formulated to cater to their existing talents and to discover new ones. The programme had been conceived to help the attending youngsters overcome any fears or negative feelings about going back to school after the summer holidays, with the children able to make new friends and acquaintances to smooth their passage into the new school year.

The Back to School Carnival featured an array of entertaining events, such as face painting, free drawing, egg design, plastic dish decorations, nail polishing, henna and hair styling. More physical challenges with the vigorous activities instilling a positive competitive spirit in the young participants.

On the side-lines of the carnival, the organising committee of the ‘Child Safety’ campaign - an initiative from the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah - held a workshop under the title ‘Cyber Safety.’ Designed to raise awareness among children and their mothers on the safe use of the Internet and social networking sites, the session provided the attendees with tips and guidance on best practices for dealing with risks and dangers that may face young ones when they are accessing the World Wide Web.

“Through the Back to School Carnival we aspired to give young students an entertaining environment where they could partake in activities that would prepare them for returning to school. The educational and recreational nature of the carnival’s programme urged children to think, and be creative,” said Nouria Mohammed,  Club Registration and Sport Complex Manager, SLC

“By organising such events as the Back to School Carnival, Sharjah Ladies Club seeks to elevate the confidence of both children and their mothers by providing them with a platform where they can interact with each other and participate in a host of engaging activities. The clubs array of premium facilities caters to meet all interests and we are delighted that the carnival’s attendees found in our club a distinctive place that meets their aspirations,” she added.

Established in 1982, SLC - a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs - is dedicated to providing high level leisure and educational activities for women and children. The facility provides its members with a relaxing and nurturing place where they can learn, enjoy sports and partake in their favourite hobbies.

SLC organises events that relate to society, art, health and charity, with its activities including bazaars, exhibitions, sporting events, seminars, workshops and forums. Designed to be a unique leisure and learning space, SLC boasts an array of world-class facilities and offers numerous high-end services, making it one of the best-of-its-kind facilities in the Middle East.
