- Dubai-based Rixos The Palm achieved 90 % occupancy rates in the first quarter of this year and it expects business to remain strong with an anticipated tourist influx into the emirate, the main business and tourism hub in the region. “We are pursuing our efforts to upgrade and add more facilities to ensure the best services to our guests from the UAE, the GCC and other countries....our hotel is one of the most dynamic on this island, which has become one of the most attractive tourism destinations in the world,” the hotel’s general manager Alexander Schneider said. He noted that new services have been added by the hotel including new and exciting promotions, a refresh of the resort’s menu offering in the restaurants and new watersports facilities. Late in 2014, Eden Beach Club, which is part of The Crystal Group, opened at the resort – giving guests the opportunity to relax in a chic Mediterranean city whilst enjoying the views of the city away from the hustle and bustle. Mr Schneider said the hotel’s main markets include the GCC, the UK, Germany and the CIS market, adding that the guest rate reached 100 % at Rixos The Palm’s restaurants and bars following the upgrade of its food and beverage offering. “The hotel has become a popular destination for visitors from Abu Dhabi and other emirates thanks to its services and location,” he said. He said the hotel, comprising 233 rooms and suites intends to participate in the May 4-7 Arabian Travel Market due to be held in Dubai. He said the hotel intends to highlight is services and announce more offers to guests for summer, adding that the hotel is also expected to sign new partnership agreements with travel agents. He noted that the ATM 2015 is the most important tourism event in the region as it serves many markets in the East and the West. Mr Schneider described, in his opinion, that Dubai as one of the most attractive tourism destinations in the world given its economic and business position, location, events and shopping potential, as well as its advanced infrastructure. “Dubai also enjoys stability and has many attractive sites for tourists covering history, culture, arts,” he said. Based on regular industry reports, he anticipated a steady growth in Dubai’s hotel industry until 2020 when the World Expo would be held, adding that more investments would be pumped into this sector. He said the sharp rise in the number of visitors to Dubai has turned Dubai International Airport into the world’s busiest. “Millions of people who come to Dubai for shopping and tourism return to the emirate again and again...this proves the success of the emirate’s tourism strategy.”
