Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi hosted the board meeting of the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington on its campus in Al Reem Island. The board includes diplomats, academics and businessmen from the USA, GCC and Arab countries. AGSIW is an independent, nonprofit institution established in Washington in 2014, dedicated to increasing the understanding and appreciation of the social, economic, and political diversity of the Arab Gulf states. Through expert research, analysis, exchanges, and public discussion, the institute seeks to encourage thoughtful debate and inform decision makers shaping U.S. policy regarding this critical geostrategic region.
Sorbonne Abu Dhabi hosted this meeting in light with its strong belief in the importance of communication with international research and global intellectual institutes to address important issues based on a scientific and logical approach. Ambassador Marcelle M. Wahba, President of the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington underlined the importance of holding the Institute’s board meeting at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, particularly that both institutions share the same mission to be a bridge between civilizations.
Dr. Fatima Al Shamsi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “Hosting AGSIW’s Board of Directors reflects our university’s belief in the excellent role that this institute is playing in converging perspectives, changing stereotypes drawn by some American media about the region. AGSIW also provides decision makers with many rigorous studies and researches that help them devise policies and define priorities”.
