In line with its continuous commitment to support its students in their academic and practical journeys, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organized the first edition of its Career Week activities, which was launched on March 6th and will conclude on March 10th, 2016 on PSUAD’s campus in Al Reem Island.
By organizing Career Week, PSUAD aims to increase awareness among its students about the importance of planning their future career journey whilst in university, in addition to showcasing the suitable jobs available for them. Career Week provided PSUAD students with the opportunity to discuss their queries that will undoubtedly contribute to their academic journey and enrich their experience. It was a valuable opportunity for students to network with professionals and gain some clarity on their future careers.
Commenting on his participation in the Career week, Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Total, said: “I am very pleased to have participated in the 'Career Week' organized by the Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, as it is a unique and important step to support students in their future career journey. Throughout my lecture, titles ‘Why study French? The importance of speaking French in the UAE’ I discussed the importance of the French language in the UAE, in Diplomacy as well as in Business. I felt their interest in this beautiful language and their will to excel in their communities”.
Eric Hafner, Founder & C.E.O at Hafner Consultants, Dubai (Board HR Committee Member - Al Jaber Group), said: “It was a great pleasure to be invited to participate. I had attended several careers fairs in the UAE and in Europe and I was particularly impressed by the "can do" mindset of the students I met and their overall positivity”.
For his part, Eisa Al Raeesi, Head of Student Affairs at PSUAD said: “At Paris-Sorbonne University, we are committed to supporting our students through their academic stages, to ensure they get the best university experience possible. We decided to organize Career Week to introduce our students to the UAE job market and its requirements, by hosting a number of renowned experts and specialists in various fields such as Law, Human Resources, Economics and others on a local and international level”.
Al Raeesi added: “In light of the success of Career Week and the active participation of our students, we shall continue our efforts to provide all kind of academic support and career guidance to our students to guarantee their success on their academic and professional journeys. We are delighted to see how interactive our students were with our guests who presented their experiences and expertise”.
Career Week included various workshops, seminars, round tables and panel discussions with the participation of leading experts, specialists, ambassadors and international legal consultants from different disciplines. The most important Career week activities include Career Discovery session, the Employment workshops entitled “How to prepare your professional project in 3 steps”; “How to create the right impression and succeed at a job’ interview?”; and “Careers in Human Resources Management”.
PSUAD also organized a round table entitled "The Economic relations between the countries of South America and the United Arab Emirates" as well as a panel discussion about “A Career with the UN or in the International Humanitarian Organizations”, an employer presentation on “The Essential Internship-Search Skills”, and a workshop about “The golden rules to build a winning CV” alongside another workshop called “Preparing UAE Graduates for the employment market across all sectors”. Career Week also featured a panel discussion that highlighted the available jobs in Law in the UAE.
