With the wide array of technological solutions available today, there are millions of ways to express your feelings or wish a loved one. However, nothing will ever replace the value of sending a loved one a thoughtful greeting card; more so if the greeting cards are an expression of the creative abilities of persons with disabilities who translate their imagination into art pieces.
Al Noor Centre for Persons with Disabilities is hosting a creative extravaganza this National Day and the coming festive season with specially designed greeting cards made by Al Noor Students.
After successfully selling 9,500 cards from last year’s collection, this year The Al Noor Season’s Greeting Cards Collection has come up with fascinating renditions of the creative minds of 12 talented Al Noor Students, 3 Samsung Funfair Painting Competition Winners along with local artists who have contributed 7 of their designs for the project. The new themes comprise Modern Dubai, Snowman, Reindeer, Gifts and Decors for the season. One can choose the option for printed cards or electronic versions through the ‘Greetings by Al Noor’ website www.greetingsbyalnoor.com
This project is one of Al Noor’s longest-running fund-raising project, the proceeds from which not only support the Centre’s running cost but also help young people with intellectual and physical challenges realize their creative abilities. And it is indeed a unique way of encouraging them to give wings to their imagination and bring out the beauty of their artistic minds.
The handmade cards start at a range of AED 4.50 and there are options for customization for Corporates who can customize them by including the company logo for a more personal touch.
Ms. Isphana Al Khatib, Director Al Noor Training Centre, explained, saying, “The tradition of sending greeting cards holds a special place in our hearts and what better way than adding the magical touch of Al Noor students to these memorable occasions. Through such initiatives we strive to discover the creative skills of our students and integrate them into mainstream activities. Our collaboration with local artists also adds value to the initiative and helps us draw more inspiration for our budding artists at Al Noor.”
