Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation concludes children’s writing workshop

Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) – a member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiatives – has concluded the activities of the third session of the children’s writing workshop. Organised as part of Dubai International Program for Writing, the workshop was aimed at refining the literary capabilities of talented writers under the guidance of experts specialized in creative writing techniques.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, said: “Based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of MBRF, we have developed a list of senior mentors and writers who have the expertise to refine the literary potential of beginner writers to create a generation of young talented authors.”

He added: “The Foundation has provided all the requirements for the success of the workshops under the Dubai International Program for Writing. The results were remarkable, especially since one of the novels created as part of the programme has won the Emirates Novel Award. The novel was written by Iman Yousif during novel writing workshop supervised by trainer Najwa Barakat.”

HE Bin Huwaireb said: “We hope to enrich our library with a large collection of books developed during the children’s writing workshop under the supervision of mentor Wafa Mezghani, who has worked for six months with a group of young writers to help them improve their quality of writing.” 

Author Wafa Mezghani commended MBRF's efforts to disseminate knowledge and build the capacities of the emerging talent. She said: “Investing in a child means investing in the future. The United Arab Emirates and its institutions have realized this and introduced programmes and initiatives to develop the potential of the Emirati and Arabic child.”

More than 20 writers participated in the workshop of creative writing in children’s literature. This workshop comes within the strategy to encourage creativity, innovation and talents and develop the skills of writers specialized in children’s books based on the requirements of the 21st century.
