Misk Art Institute Announces Names of Two Artists Joining its Italy Residency Program

Misk Art Institute, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk,” continues its residency program in Milan, Italy, in collaboration with Casa degli Artisti. The program, running from May 5 to July 4, 2025, reflects Misk Art Institute’s commitment to supporting Saudi artists in developing their practices on a global scale.

The program targets emerging and mid-career Saudi artists working in visual arts, including painting, sculpture, graphic art, and contemporary forms, such as collage, assemblage, mixed media, and video art. It aims to provide a stimulating environment for creative exchange and artistic collaboration.

This year, Latifa AlBokhari and Madhawi AlGwaiz were selected for the program from a large pool of applicants following a rigorous review process led by experts in visual and contemporary arts. Their selection reflects the strength of their artistic vision, the originality of their projects, and their readiness to leverage this international experience to refine their practice and expand their impact on the global art scene. This highlights Misk Art Institute’s ongoing commitment to empowering Saudi artists through impactful collaborations with leading international art institutions.

The Milan Residency Program offers an integrated environment that supports the artistic and professional development of the participating artists. It provides workspace, curatorial and technical support, and access to a global network of artists, institutions, and collectors, helping artists advance their practice and gain exposure. The program includes individual coaching and mentoring sessions, tailored workshops, visits to artist studios, galleries, and exhibition spaces in Milan where participants can engage with the local art scene. Additionally, it will provide networking opportunities with other artists, curators, and professionals from around the world, as well as two cultural trips in Italy and Europe. The program will conclude with a final open studio where artists can showcase their experiences and art creations to a broad audience of art enthusiasts and professionals.

The Residency Program in Italy is part of Misk Art Institute’s International Residencies initiative designed to provide Saudi artists the opportunity to engage with the global art scene. By fostering authentic cultural exchanges, this program opens new avenues for artistic experimentation. It also encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration, offering creatives the chance to express their ideas and unleash their creativity.
