Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai celebrates Earth Hour 2015

Global initiative underlining nature preservation and the fight against global warming

Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai, one of the luxury accommodations along Sheikh Zayed Road, took part in the annual Earth Hour by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical devices in the hotel for one hour last Saturday, 28th March 2015.

As a symbol of commitment to the environment and a more sustainable future, the property’s staff and guests gathered in the lobby and lit candles to signify their support of Earth Hour, a global initiative to raise awareness of energy conservation and climate change.

The hotel invited guests to celebrate with complimentary hot and cold snacks at their Atrium Café located on the lobby level, while other in-house guests enjoyed a candle-lit dinner at Metro Restaurant inclusive of a 30% discount. Tea-lights were lit on a special platform in the hotel lobby to form the large Millennium emblem with the words ‘Earth Hour’ underneath, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. A special cake in the shape of the world was also set up for guests to place a candle in their place of origin.

Daniel Mathew, General Manager, Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai, said: “As a socially-responsible organization we proudly support Earth Hour, an environmental awareness campaign towards sustaining a green and healthy planet for future generations. We would like to encourage individuals and organizations to embrace such environmentally-friendly practices that will help reduce electricity and water use to protect and preserve our mother Earth.”

A competition was also organized by the sales and marketing team offering 25% discount spa vouchers to guests.
