JazzArabia’s head of programmes, Dr Lyria Messahel, has won a bronze medal as “Female Executive of the Year for Europe, the Middle East & Africa” at the International Women in Business Awards, known as “The Stevies”, for her music programming contributions to the radio station.
JazzArabia, the first jazz and Latin radio station in the Middle East is broadcasted live 24 hours a day online from its custom-built studio in p&c by Sergi Arola restaurant, within the Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri complex. Lyria’s distinctive achievement is formatting JazzArabia with captivating content. She blends in Arabic jazz with mainstream and Latin, and infuses it with an eclectic mix of jazz genres, giving listeners a diversified catalogue of music all day long.

Lyria is originally from Algiers and holds a doctorate from the Free University of Berlin, Germany.
