Interviews for 800 vacancies with DSCD due to begin
Candidates for research and supervisory roles for Sharjah Census 2015 to be selected
Interviews for 800 vacancies with the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) in Sharjah are due to begin. The committee will conduct interviews between May 5 and 27, in Sharjah, Al Dhaid, and Khorfakkan to recruit researchers and supervisors to work on temporary contracts for the Sharjah Census 2015.
Successful candidates will work on collecting statistical data and conducting field interviews with families for up to 80 days including training time. The Sharjah Census 2015 is scheduled to launch in October 2015 under the slogan For a Better Tomorrow, and will collect statistical data on residents, homes, and facilities in Sharjah.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah, said, “The appointment of these team members is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who issued last February, Emiri Decree No. "7" for the year 2015 on conducting a general census of the population, housing and facilities in the Emirate of Sharjah, to provide accurate statistical data on the economic, social, and demographic conditions, as well as other sectors pertaining to development.”
According to Sheikh Al Thani the selection process for candidates to take part in the census project follows the highest standards as the candidates will have an impact on how well the project is completed and therefore the recruitment process has been executed to the most stringent standards. He also stressed that Sharjah Census 2015 will support comprehensive development plans and evaluate the efficiency of plans and programs already in place.
Thurayya Al-Hajji, Support Services Manager at the Department of Statistics and Community Development, said, “We were delighted with the overwhelming response to these temporary job vacancies at Sharjah Census 2015. Applicants will not only serve in this current project, but they will also form a database of specialists and professionals from which we can select candidates for future projects as well, all in order to support the Emirate's leadership and their dedication to make informed decisions that positively impacts the Emirate and the country as a whole.” Interviews will be conducted as follows: Applicants from the city of Sharjah: Interviews will be held at Expo Center Sharjah, during the period from May 5 to 13, from 10:00am to 8.00pm. For applicants from the Central Region, interviews will be held in Al Dhaid Sports & Cultural Club, from May 17 to 19, 10:00am to 4.00pm. For applicants from the Eastern Region, interviews will be conducted at Expo Khorfakkan, during the period from May 24 to 27, from 10:00am to 4.00pm. The DSCD has called on applicants to book their interview through the website www.sharjahcensus.ae, and to ensure they bring their National ID cards to the interview.
Sharjah Census 2015 aims to collect comprehensive statistical data on the population, infrastructure, housing and establishments in Sharjah via field interviews and electronic forms. The census will focus on specific social segments, such as the elderly, female widowers or divorcees/separated, job seekers, and people with special needs.
The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development is the only authorized statistical body in the emirate and the source of official statistical data, as well as the body mandated with all community development related policies and plans. It is a corporate body with full legal capacity to carry out and direct all works and necessary actions to achieve its objectives.
