Global Village’s Kuwait Pavilion – A Journey through Rich History and Modern Fashion
Kuwait sits just on the tip of the Arabian Gulf, acting as a crossroad between the East and the West. This has traditionally made Kuwait act as a port for traders looking to travel between India, East Africa, and the Red Sea. Despite all these different cultures using Kuwait as a hub, the country has still held on to its own identity and its culture and traditions are prominent throughout the Kuwait Pavilion at Global Village. The Kuwait Pavilion façade evokes the strong relationship the country has with the sea by designing the pavilion with strong waves, while entrance to the pavilion is designed to look like an oyster shell – symbolic of the close relationship that Kuwait’s forefathers had with pearl diving. The façade also employs the use of tall and architecturally appealing towers that have been built in Kuwait to show the modernity of this urban country. Guests can find all sorts of fantastic cultural products at the Kuwait Pavilion but what it is really famous for is the large amount of high quality perfumes that are so easily available throughout the pavilion. One very popular stall is Oxygen Perfumes and its owner, Mohammed Al Aqeeli, says: “We are thrilled to be part of Global Village for the second time in a row. We are happy to participate again this season as we have seen a high demand from all nationalities last season for our products. All of our products are 100% natural and we sell Bukhour, Oud oil and perfumes. “We have also noticed that there are certain perfumes that are very popular at Global Village. For example, we realized that a perfume we sell called ‘Anfasak Ghair’ was becoming very popular, with many customers saying that they were addicted to its fantastic fragrance. Once I heard this I decided to change the name of the perfume to ‘Addiction’. It has been our best seller and has even made us known amongst celebrities such as Staar Saad, from the Arabic version of The Voice; Rahaf Al Taweel, a Dubai TV presenter; and Badria Ahmed, an Emirati actress.” Kuwait Pavilion also offers a host of other products including abayas and fashionable accessories that can be worn throughout the year.
