Global Village, the leading family cultural, shopping and entertainment destination in the region, has completed a hugely successful DSF period attracting 1.4 million guests during the 32-day festival.
Traditionally the busiest period for Global Village, visitor numbers have been boosted over the past month by a very strong presence from GCC residents bringing their families to enjoy the many and varied attractions offered by the region’s biggest outdoor tourism attraction.
Commenting on their success, Global Village CEO, Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, said: “The Dubai Shopping Festival has traditionally been our busiest month during the Global Village season and we have been delighted with the number of guests we have welcomed in January.
“Since we opened in November we have seen a significant increase in year on year visitor numbers which have been further boosted by a fantastic DSF period. We have been very encouraged by the growing diversity of the guests coming to Global Village but have also seen a strong influx of families from the GCC once again.
“There is no doubt that the enhancements we have made in improving the guest experience, providing fantastic regional and international entertainment shows, offering international cultural experiences, amazing shopping and dining opportunities makes Global Village a must-visit destination during DSF and throughout our season.”
Global Village started the festival with a bang with the launch of the innovative “Shop The World” show that was undertaken during the first week of DSF and featured seven cultural shows from the park’s international pavilions featuring stunning visual effects created specifically for the show. Thousands of guests were enthralled by the amazing impact of the event.
Thousands of people also flocked to the main stage to enjoy concerts from leading musical stars and performers including Wafik Habib, Miami Band, Ismail Mubarak and Sherya Goshal – just one of the varied spectacular events offered by Global Village and included in the admission ticket price. As well as to watch the spectacular Jet Ski stunt show that ran during Dubai Shopping Festival. The Jet Ski stunt show illuminated on the main lake as performers amazed the audience with their skills and brilliance on the water, seemingly making their jet skis dance as they race across the water in a stunning display of expertise and skill.
The popularity of Global Village also made it the perfect venue once again to host the eagerly anticipated daily raffle draws that were broadcasted live on TV every day and gave away millions of dirhams in prizes. The raffle draw took place on a special stage designed with the Dubai Shopping Festival colours, and in the presence of celebrities such as George Kordahi and Buthaina al Raisi; giving away up to 500 thousand dirhams daily.
The skies above the park were also illuminated with stunning firework displays that were held during the DSF period and will continue on every Thursday and Friday for the rest of the Global Village season that will close on April 9.
But as DSF ends, Global Village will continue to offer a fantastic family day out and an innovative new offering called the “Kids Fest”, its first ever entertainment festival exclusively targeting children which commenced on 1st February and will run for 22 days.
Kids are set to be amazed by the wealth and variety of attractions on offer at ‘Kids Fest’, from meeting the Smurfs, to Circus Circus show, Global Show Academy, Shaabiat AlCartoon show, the popular Globo shows, face painting and balloon bending activities, and the greatly anticipated Globo Bouncy Castle among many others. All of the events are free of charge and included in the price of admission to Global Village and will provide an incredible variety of activities during the festival.
