A senior official delegation from RWE Middle East visited Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, to exchange expertise and review latest developments in the renewable energy and district cooling areas. The visit reflects both parties' keenness to promote knowledge exchange particularly in district cooling field which topped the discussions.
The RWE Middle East delegation was headed by Mr. Butti Al Qubaisi, Mr. Peter Terium, CEO of RWE AG, and Paul Van Son, Country Chairman for MENA and Turkey at RWE AG. They were received by HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower, and other senior managers in the company.
Both companies highlighted opportunities for cooperation in district cooling field. The delegation has shown a keen interest in some of Empower’s projects and activities as well its development journey where it became the largest district cooling provider in the world in less than a decade.
HE Ahmad Bin Shafar showcased a number of Empower’s operating projects, as well as the ones under construction. He also briefed the RWE delegation on the latest innovations and technical standards followed by Empower, which were commended by the German company, and the energy saving rates achieved in past years because of adopting such technologies.
“RWE Middle East visit was very productive, as we had a close understanding on number of its services that could be applied in our operations in the future. As the world’s largest district cooling services provider, we have taken the responsibility to search for new technologies that increase the district cooling efficiency to guarantee compliance with the smart and sustainable transition requirements,” said Bin Shafar.
“Our quest to develop District Cooling techniques is continuous. We have succeeded in establishing efficient world-class systems which were seen never before in this sector. We continue to collaborate with the most reliable energy service providers in the world,” concluded Bin Shafar.
Empower currently operates more than 1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
