The campaign saw 197 donors in less than 5 hours

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), as part of its ongoing commitment towards Social Responsibility, organized annual blood donation drive for 2015 on World Blood Donor Day. Held in collaboration with Dubai International Real Estate, Dubai Blood Donation Centre and Thalassemia Centre, the initiative saw 197 donors taking part.

The purpose of the campaign was to help children who need blood transfusion and to support patients being treated for a range of serious ailments, including cancer, sickle cell anemia, severe burns, traumatic injuries and those undergoing surgery.

“A core aspect of our corporate strategy is to ensure that we give something back to the community," said H.E Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower. “We strongly believe that delivery of effective service and social commitment goes hand in hand.”

Underlining the importance of blood donation, Bin Shafar lauded the efforts of all participants who volunteered to donate blood. The donors were then presented with mementoes.

“Empower has organised several blood drives with overwhelming response since 2007. It gives us great satisfaction to support this humanitarian cause,” said Bin Shafar.

“The eighth Blood Donation Drive was very successful. We are so delighted to see the community’s support to humanitarian causes in the UAE. We have enhanced our involvement in community campaigns on the strength of being the world’s largest district cooling services provider.”

Empower has been part of several other community initiatives, the most recent of which was the Emirates Women Award organised by the Dubai Quality Group. In 2015, Empower has attained Dubai Chamber’s CSR Label as a symbol of our continuous and various campaigns of social responsibility and the company generously celebrates its global success by giving back to the community in the best possible way.

Many of Empower’s contractors, consultants and staff brought their families and friends along to further support this initiative. The Blood Donation Drive took place at Empower, Al Hudaiba Awards Building, Block A, Dubai, from 9 am to 2:30pm. The campaign was supported by ELEMEC Electromechanical Contracting LLC, Technical & Trading LLC, Emirates Refreshments, Bin Lahej Electromechanical LLC, Behind the Scenes, Toy Store, Wade Adams Contracting LLC and Mai Dubai.

Empower currently operates more than 1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
