Empower marks the Earth Hour by taking part in the cycling parade in Bay Avenue Park

As part of the Earth Hour activities held in Dubai, many of Empower’s employees participated in this global event in Bay Avenue Park, Business Bay by taking part in the cycling parade.

“Protecting the environment against the ongoing challenges of climate change is a key component of the UAE’s Vision 2021,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower. “As the world’s largest district cooling services provider,Empower exists within a larger community and we have a shared responsibility in safeguarding our ecosystems for the generations to come across the Emirate of Dubai. The fact that carbon emissions are directly linked to the global warming issue makes worldwide initiatives like Earth Hour a reminder for everyone to act responsibly.”

“Empower firmly believes in and focuses on conserving natural resources and saving the environment, which motivates us to take part in Earth Hour for last many years,” noted Bin Shafar.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and is held in March. Since its inception in 2007, millions of households and businesses have turned off their non-essential lights for one hour every year, to raise awareness about the need to take action against climate change.  This year’s event took place on March 19.

Additionally, Empower’s systems use up to 50 per cent less energy as traditional cooling systems.

“Minimisingour individual carbon footprint and introducing environmentally sustainable measures in our daily operations, will be the key to mitigating the challenges of climate change,” emphasised Bin Shafar. “At Empower, we are committed to conserving the use of electricity and water as much as we can.”

Empower currently operates more than 1 million  100 thousands RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
