Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons—the Middle East’s largest luxury watch retailer— in partnership with the Grand Prix d’horlogerie de Geneve, is proud to present the year’s official pre-selected timepieces participating in the GPHG exhibit during the inaugural Dubai Watch Week (DWW) from 18-22 October in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The 15th edition of the GPHG once again brings together watch industry stakeholders, ranging from the smallest brand to the most prestigious, who will be presenting their recent creations in a spirit of unity and harmony. The official list of 72 pre-selected timepieces will be making their last international stop in Dubai before they head back to Geneva where the winners will be announced on the 29th October 2015.
These timepieces are competing to win one of the 16 awards in their respective categories or the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix and have been pre-selected by the multidisciplinary, international GPHG 2015 jury- comprised of chair, Aurel Bacs and 25 personalities known for their watchmaking expertise. This year, artists and musicians Dieter Meier (Yello) and Eric Singer (Kiss) have joined the prestigious jury identifying contemporary creative talent and watchmaking expertise.
“Following the success of the first GPHG exhibition in Dubai in 2013, there has been tremendous interest from both established collectors and emerging watch enthusiasts to see the 2015 pieces first-hand, as they represent the innovation, creativity and imagination of some of the world’s most celebrated watchmakers. The GPHG exhibition in Dubai highlights the growing significance of the Middle East region within our wider industry,” said Melika Yazdjerdi, Director and organizer of Dubai Watch Week 2015.
These select timepieces shall be travelling with the GPHG across Hong Kong, Seoul, Dubai, Geneva and London. Once the back in Geneva, the stronghold of international watchmaking, the timepieces will be presented from October 27th to November 4th at the Cité du Temps, the showcase for the official pre-selection for the past four years. The 2015 awards will be revealed on October 29th at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the roadshow’s final stop for the 16 winning watches of this 15th edition of the GPHG will be an exhibition in London from 12-14 November 2015, as part of the SalonQP.
