Dubai Customs to mark stronger participation at DIGAE 2016

Dubai Customs has set everything ready to have a great  participation at the 4th Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), which will be held from April 11 through 13, 2016, at Dubai World Trade Center under the motto “Local Governments .. International Achievements”.

Organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Customs has been very keen on taking part in this important platform. This year’s internationalized edition is the largest so far, with exhibitors expected from 40 government entities across 20 countries around the world. They will showcase their latest government achievements in serving customers and the public.

Pioneering Smart Initiatives

Dubai Customs will unveil a number of new ground-breaking Customs initiatives and world-class achievements which have been developed as part of its quest for excellence in service delivery. This participation will be an opportunity for Dubai Customs to present its leading experience in harnessing the creative minds of its staff in order to innovate new solutions and improve the quality of services provided to make customers happier and boost people’s wellbeing. Moreover, DC is also interested in sharing expertise with local and global organizations partaking in the exhibition.

Among the much-anticipated introductions to be launched by Dubai Customs during the 3-day event are:

  • Enterprise Case Management: This smart system has been developed at Dubai Customs to assist customers in completing their customs cases quickly and with less effort.
  • Virtual Corridor: The initiative is a new Customs procedure that enables a more streamlined movement of goods between two Customs centres in Dubai, without any financial burden, helping traders cut their operational costs, thus optimising their business returns.
  • Smart Workstation: The initiative is an intelligent facilitation tool that cuts down the time needed to fill in a Customs declaration from 15 – 20 minutes to just 1 – 5 minutes.
  • Smart Inspection Glasses: The use of the smart inspection glasses facilitates and expedites containers’ field inspection, as Customs inspectors can browse the Customs declaration and x-ray images of the shipment at hand, as well as define its risk level.
  • Smart Enterprise Capability: The initiative aims at enhancing the competitive edge of Dubai Customs at the global level by building its capacities, exploring future trends and directing investment. It offers an integrated and connected view of enterprise capabilities which helps efficiently measure the maturity level of Customs’ business capabilities.
  • Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Program: Dubai Customs is one of the first agencies in the ME to adopt the AEO program. The program establishes strategic partnerships that ensure better security and facilitation of global supply chains via Mutual Recognition Agreements.

Government Excellence System

HE. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), said: “Dubai Customs is eager to participate in DIGAE 2016, in line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s directives to create happiness for customers and the public through excelling government services, and share expertise and best practices in this matter among government agencies towards establishing a sound government excellence system.

He added that DC’s pavilion at the international exhibition will bring to display a bundle of innovative trade-enabling and Customs-easing initiatives, noting that many Customs achievements have been realized that primarily aim to support sustainable economic development and enhance Dubai’s and the UAE’s stature as a favourite destination for business and legitimate trade.

Customer Happiness

On his part, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said that Dubai Customs’ new array of initiatives and achievements to be launched at DIGAE 2016 include services delivered via smart apps and new tools streamlining Customs procedures to attract more trade, boost economic growth, and leverage Dubai’s smart city project.

“We constantly seek to improve our services using new smart and state-of-the-art technologies and business processes to better suit the needs of our customers, bringing them real added value in terms of substantial time and cost savings. Their happiness is our first and foremost goal in conformity with the UAE Vision and Dubai Plan 2021,” he explains.
