Diriyah inks SAR 2.25B contract for Diriyah Square project

Diriyah Co. announced the award of a major new SAR 2.25 billion contract to Salini Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of Italy-based Webuild Group, for the construction of the high-profile Diriyah Square retail precinct, which is situated at the heart of Diriyah.

The scope of the work covers building 73 individual buildings and 400 retail brands, stretching across a built-up area of 365,340 square meters. The Italian contractor will also carry out work related to the facades, finishes and fit outs of the units, according to the company’s statement.

All buildings will be inspired by the traditional Najdi architectural design themes to create a unique pedestrianized retail environment in the heart of Diriyah, reflecting 300 years of history and heritage.

Diriyah Square is designed to develop a vibrant retail district, featuring a mix of 400 iconic retail, leisure and dining brands.

This marked the third major involvement of Webuild in helping to create the unique flagship retail environment in Diriyah. Salini is already well advanced in building a 10,500-space car park underneath Diriyah Square, which will be among the largest in the world.
