Demand for Singapore’s Food Products Grows as Consumers Seek International Flavours

As consumer appetite increases throughout the Middle East for authentic flavours and international cuisine, Singapore food manufacturers are enjoying growing demand for their products. Currently showcasing their products at Gulfood 2015 - the world’s largest annual food and hospitality exhibition, 47 Singapore food and beverage brands are reporting strong business interest from distributors, retailers and the HORECA industry, for their broad mix of authentic, international and fusion food products.

“With hundreds of products, including more than 50 new launches, at the Singapore Pavilion this year, interest is already strong. The global trend for food from around the world is gaining popularity in the GCC and the demand for Singapore products increases every year,” said Mr. Budiman Mohamed Salleh, Centre Director for IE Singapore, Abu Dhabi, the government agency promoting the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade. “Singapore’s food manufacturers, drawing on expertise that comes from operating in a cosmopolitan market, are familiar with varied tastes and palates in this region. Today, they are already supplying GCC’s industry professionals – key distributors and F&B players – with an exceptional range of products.”

As familiarity with Singapore’s international foods and flavours grows, many Singapore products are already well established on the menus of numerous food and beverage outlets and hotels in the region. Singapore’s strong commitment to quality, the ability of food manufacturers to produce standardised as well as customised products, and the diversity of tastes and flavours have provided the necessary assurance to chefs and industry professionals looking to offer their customers a menu of delicious, creative and memorable dishes.

In addition, Singapore’s food product manufacturers maintain uncompromising standards in the production of a diverse range of Halal-certified products to cater to the demand for Halal foods in the GCC and beyond.

Sin Mui Heng, a premium Singapore food manufacturer, will be launching their new range of Signature Dim Sum, which includes the Charcoal Salted Egg Custard Bun and Chill Crab Bun. The company supplies authentic, high quality and Halal dim sum, and supplies to some of the region’s top hotels and hospitality chains.

Also delivering customised gourmet products, Prima Taste offers a wide array of authentic cooking sauces that captures the best flavours of Singapore, such as its Laksa La Mian, and has even put a twist to some international favourites like Vongole Sauce.

Baked goods manufacturer, Baker’s Heaven, offers an extensive range of ready-to-cook products that include artisan breads, frozen puffs and frozen puff pastry dough that are both Halal and vegetarian. Specifically formulated by Swiss Master Bakers for optimal taste and quality, these products are ideal for busy households and central kitchens which value time saving in food preparation, without compromising on flavour or quality.

Mr Jimmy Soh, Chairman of Export Club, Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA) said: “Singapore food is known for its diversity and the passion it invokes, both from those who prepare it and those who savour it. This, together with the uncompromising standards of quality and adherence to certifications, offers the food and hospitality industry in the region an array of foods and flavours with immediate appeal.”

The Singapore Pavilion is organised by the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA), with the support of IE Singapore. The Pavilion is located in Sheikh Rashid Hall of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
