“Chef Mama” of Medley Pullman Dubai Deira City Centre Honoured with ‘Moroccan Mothers Living Abroad’ Award
– Pullman Dubai Deira City Centre’s renowned Chef Jarmoune El Batoul, also known as “Chef Mama” of the Medley Restaurant received the Moroccan Mothers Living Abroad Award from the “CCME- Consul De La Communiute Marocaine À L'etranger” in recognition of her efforts in promoting Moroccan traditions and cuisine abroad.
”Chef Mama” and 11 other selected Moroccan women from around the world received their prestigious decoration on February 22nd, 2015 in a warm ceremony hosted by CCME in Casablanca, Morocco. The Reception included the presence of esteemed Moroccan personalities living abroad and from various sectors such as: politicians, academics, jurists and journalists.
Mrs. El Batoul, a self-taught chef, started her culinary journey as a personal chef to Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Amina, in the late 80’s in the city of Rabat. After a long lasting experience in her home town, “Chef Mama” joined the Palace of His Royal Highness Sheikh Ibrahim Saadan in Saudi Arabia. Recognition came fast as she always made sure to serve the finest quality in her kitchen; her delicacies soon became famous in the culinary world especially when she joined the Sofitel Bahrain to lead the Yakout restaurant under Accor Groups umbrella.
“Chef Mama” expressed her feelings by saying “I feel honored by receiving this award. There are many women out there like me, who are mothers living abroad to support their families and represent their cultural heritage to an international audience through various roles. I feel particularly special that I get to do this through my cooking under the world renowned Accor Group.”
Since 2008, “Chef Mama” is in charge of the Oriental cuisine at the Pullman Dubai Deira City Centre, bringing her Arabic culinary excellence with a Moroccan twist every Monday at Medley restaurant.
