Centro Capital Centre participates in the “Working Safely in the Heat” campaign

“1,000 bottles of water and 200 packs of juices, along with awareness materials were distributed to municipality and construction workers working outdoors in harsh conditions across several areas in Abu Dhabi.”

Centro Capital Centre by Rotana participated in Health Authority - Abu Dhabi's annual “Working Safely in the Heat” campaign by distributing 1000 bottles of water and 200 packs of juices, along with awareness materials related to the campaign. The flyers and brochures given to the workers explained the symptoms of heat illness and its prevention measures.

The campaign comes in line with the Ministry of Labour’s decision, banning midday work between 12:30 and 3:00 during summer months (from June 15 to September 15).  It aims to raise awareness and educate workers and employers about the dangers of working in hot weather and provide resources and guidance to address these hazards. Workers at the risk group are those in outdoor industries, such as agriculture, construction, landscaping and transportation.

Speaking on the occasion, General Manager of Centro Capital Centre by Rotana Mr. Ayman Ashor said: “Being a part of the community, it is our responsibility to collaborate and raise awareness about heat-related illnesses and how to avoid them. This is a global challenge in the region and such challenges could be tackled only if all stakeholders come together and supplement government efforts”.

Centro Capital Centre’s initiative was aimed at strengthening awareness and encouraging labourers to stay well-hydrated to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other hazards. For this reason, colleagues from different departments were distributing water, juices and awareness materials from 9:30 am until 12 noon. All the materials were produced by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi in different languages to ensure their effectiveness – Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Arabic and English, and contained tips on working safely in the heat.
