CELEBRATE THE FUSION OF ART, TECHNOLOGY & FASHION AT AL NOOR GALA DINNER 2016

When art turns to fashion and fashion turns to technology, the result is a symbiosis of creative energies. Celebrating this very energy and fusion of art, technology and fashion, Al Noor Training Centre, under the proud patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is back with the most anticipated charity event of the year. The “Al Noor Gala Dinner” is all set to take place on 27th May 2016 at the Al Ras Ballroom, Hotel Intercontinental, Dubai Festival City.

After an overwhelming response and huge success last year, the fundraising gala promises to be bigger and grander this time with a soaring glitz, glamour and entertainment quotient. While the gala will host an array of scintillating performances comprising world class Jazz artists, fascinating dancers and an enthralling musical tribute in the grand finale, we spill the bean on the most exciting part of the fundraising event- the haute couture collection inspired by eye gaze technology.

For the first time in the region will a niche designer from Dubai Design District display a fashion breakthrough by adapting artworks made by Al Noor students into designer-wear. The artworks which have been created using assistive eye gaze technology will be translated into fabric prints. Eye-Gaze technology enables students with significant disabilities to use eye movements for operating a computer or tablet. In simpler words, students can create masterstrokes with every blink or gaze through eye-gaze technology.

And the gala dinner will give guests an opportunity to see the masterstrokes translated into designer clothes.  What is more exciting is that the haute couture will be up for auction. This will be a fantastic way to integrate students with disabilities into the mainstream by giving wings to their creative abilities and encouraging them to cultivate their artistic potential.

Ms. Isphana Al Khatib, Director of the Centre expressed her delight saying, “The glamorous platforms of Art and Fashion will be used to demonstrate our students’ abilities- a clear message that when their abilities are creatively harnessed, they can be effectively productive!”
