- On April 16, 2015, the Canadian Business Council Abu Dhabi hosted marked its 10th Anniversary on the occasion of its Annual Gala, the Maple Leaf Ball. Over 200 top business executives, government officials and business affiliates came together to recognize leading companies, institutions and entrepreneurs for their dedication to strengthening Canada-U.A.E. commercial relations.

The notable event was held at Park Rotana Hotel and sponsored by Qasimi Law Partners, AECOM, Apparel Group, Etihad Airways, supported by Park Rotana Hotel and Iris Media along with other generous supporters.


The ceremonial part of the evening included the Maple Leaf Award – a distinction that recognises a Canadian citizen residing in the UAE who has provided an outstanding contribution to the UAE business community. The Council respectfully announced this year's Maple Leaf Award recipient – Mr. Andre Sayegh, CEO of FGB.

Terry Fox Run Abu Dhabi. With the CBC being one of the biggest supporters of the Terry Fox Run in Abu Dhabi, a second Maple Leaf Award was presented to the Terry Fox Run Abu Dhabi Committee as 2015 coincides with 20 years of the run in AUH and 35 years since the run started in Canada.
