BASF creates chemistry with children at Etisalat Dubai Kids Run

BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, witnessed an enthusiastic participation from Dubai’s young people and their families at the mobile BASF Kids Lab created as part of the Etisalat Dubai Kids Run and Fun Fair that was hosted under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Al Jalila Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Held at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, the BASF Kids Lab set up at the company’s 400 sq meter booth invited visitors of all ages to explore how BASF has been creating chemistry for the past 150 years. Featuring instructive experiments, the Kids Lab presented a 30-minute demonstration on water storage to highlight the pressing issue of water scarcity and desalination challenges in the GCC region.
Showcasing the role of chemistry in our daily lives, BASF also held a hair gel competition. The contest awarded winners with tickets to Kidzania in Dubai Mall.
Florian Krueckl, Managing Director and Head of Business Center BASF Middle East, said: “We are proud to partner with Etisalat for this youth-centric event. Our children are the future, and must be encouraged to cultivate physical and mental wellness. The BASF Kids Lab is an award winning program that has globally drawn the participation of over 472,000 kids in 35 countries.
“In Dubai, the concept has gained high resonance among children in introducing them to the magical world of chemistry. Through our efforts, we hope to hope to encourage young people to become environment friendly and practice sustainability in their everyday lives.”
As part of its commitment to promoting holistic health and wellness in the community, BASF’s partnership with the Etisalat Dubai Kids Run and Fun Fair included a two kilometer run for children between the ages of 4 and 12 years.
BASF’s support to the event articulates its social responsibility strategy that rests on the four tenets of sustainability, long-term solutions, education and youth. The company’s other UAE-based initiatives such as ‘Educate a Child, Build a Nation’ and the Kidzania pavilion have a similar focus and are recognized for their success in offering creative edutainment.
