Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier leisure and family destination, is celebrating the holy month of Ramadan by festooning its facilities and walkways with spectacular ornaments and oriental lanterns.
The breathtaking display has been set up to entrance both Arab and foreign visitors, with families able to enjoy the special nights of Ramadan, which signify togetherness and unity, at the location. They can also make the most of the gastronomic delights served by the many restaurants and cafés along Al Qasba’s walkways, both before dawn’s Suhoor and following the firing of the Ramadan cannon, which announces the breaking of the fast at sunset’s Iftar.
Al Qasba’s restaurants and cafés are open from sunset until 3:00am during the holy month, with its array of outlets - including juice shops, patisseries and ice-cream kiosks - selling delicious snacks and fare. Included among them is restaurant Gerard, whose mouthwatering crêpes give clients the sensation of dining in France, and Grand Abu Shakra restaurant, known for its Egyptian dishes that include kushari, hommus, fava beans, falafels and freshly baked Arabic bread.
Asli Borek restaurant’s specialities include Turkish pastries with cheese, minced meat and spinach – dishes that originate to the time of the Ottoman Empire - as well as salads, desserts and baklava. Shababeek restaurant, for its turn, serves traditional delicious Lebanese food, including griddles and Arabic bread Shababeek’s delicious barbecue offerings and private seating areas make it a great family dining destination.
Stefano’s Italian eatery serves up classic Italian bruschetta, macaroni and calzone folded pizza, while Beit Setti restaurant gives its clients the sensation of enjoying a unique culinary excursion into Damascus, with its prestigious interior design and its delicious Syrian food items that are served with fresh natural cocktails.
In the Fish Corner, expert chefs present innovative sea-food dishes inspired by Middle Eastern culinary traditions fused with contemporary menus. Here they blend local sea-food products with imported ingredients to prepare unique tailor-made fresh fish dishes for customers. As well as excelling with its variety of piscine dishes, the corner also offers numerous other options, including meat and vegetarian dishes.

“Ramadan at Al Qasba has a special charm as visitors can find serenity and tranquility when breaking their fast and eating their Iftar meal in the outdoor courtyard. The series of restaurants along the walkways offer a wide selection of menus suitable for all tastes. The outdoor sitting area has been specially decorated with lights, lanterns and colour for Ramadan to create a whole new atmosphere that makes Al Qasba a favourite local destination during the holy month,” said Sultan Mohamed Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager.
He added; “Ramadan is the month in which people get together and meet with relatives and friends long into the evening. Because of this, Al Qasba will be open until the early hours of dawn during the holy month so that people can eat Suhur and Iftar meals. People can also pray Maghrib (prayer after sunset), Isha (prayer after dusk) and Taraweeh (prayer after dusk which is performed only in Ramadan) at Al Qasba Mosque.”
