A varied diet and activity play a major role in children’s development, says UAE nutritionist

Exposing children to variety of healthy foods combined with physical activity will facilitate their healthy growth
UAE based nutritionist and health promoter, Hala Barghout, recently concluded an interactive and educational session for parents on the importance of identifying reasons why children become fussy eaters. The knowledge sharing workshop organized by Barni, the wholesome daily snack, was held at KidZania®, a realistic role-playing educational environment for children at The Dubai Mall. The gathering was attended by 208 parents along with their children who received information on dealing and coping with fussy eaters. Its various causes that lead to this behavior in their children were indeed an eye opener for many parents present at the event.
Hala Barghout – Barni Nutritionist and Health Promoter said, “It is imperative that children need to adopt a well-balanced diet comprising of a variety of food. Apart from eating a daily recommended amount of vegetables, fruits, cereals and high quality protein and dairy products, physical activity should also be enjoyed. Addressing problem foods that are avoided by children and gradually incorporating them into their daily diet will help them overcome their fussy attitude.” “Children are what they eat and it’s the sole responsibility of the parents to ensure that their child eats right and eats well. Creating conducive environment along with energy needs and proper meal patterns will prove beneficial in the long run,” she added.
